Keratoconus

Keratoconus: Anomalous slimming of the cornea that generates its protrusion and makes it take a conical shape. Besides, it provokes the alteration of the visual acuteness in different degrees, photophobia and itching. The treatments, depending on the condition evolution level, range from contact lenses, corneal ring segment implantation and cross linking (increase of the corneal biostability through the use of UV radiation and photosensitivities) to the corneal transplantation (penetrating or non-penetrating).
