Cataracts

Cataracts: It is the opacification of the crystalline, the biological lens of the eye. The most common cause of this disorder is the patient's age as part of a natural ageing process; however, it can also be produced, on a secondary basis, by other clinical conditions: metabolic disorders, such as diabetes; inflammatory disorders, such as uveitis; and trauma disorders. Besides, it can be a disease of congenital origin. The cataract requires surgical treatment, and in every single case it is necessary to analyse previously the hypothetical benefit that can be obtained considering other pathological or physiological conditions that may arise simultaneously.
